Is a Musket better than a Bow?
Muskets were capable of superior armor penetration, longer maximum range, and could be mastered faster than a bow. What this meant is that you can have an army of cheap conscript musketeers instead of smaller groups of expensive elite archers.
New World's Musket is one of the best PvP weapons in the game, as long as you can hit your shots. The weapon is practically hitscan, which means there is no bullet drop. It's definitely preferred in PvP over PvE, even if the current meta is more Bow heavy rather than the Musket.
The Bow is incredibly strong, arguably one of the best ranged weapons in the game. It serves as a harder-hitting alternative to the Musket, although you'll have to get used to the Bow's travel time and various abilities. In its current state, the Bow is the perfect weapon for PVP.
Musket is WAY more of a problem than bows. They deal more damage and ruin the game by being hitscan. There shouldn't be a single hitscan thing in a game like New World. I'd be cool with it if they were evened out, Musket has hitscan, so it deals less damage as it is easier to use.
the disadvantages of the musket is that it can't be used on horseback allowing it to be less mobile. the next disadvantage is the musket can be inaccurate by if a regular barrel not a smooth bore. then the musket is common for misfires by the gunpowder residue in the barrel allows it to happen.
Bows and crossbows are quiet and thus better for ambushes. Arrows can be recovered and reused. Bows are easier and cheaper to produce than firearms. Bows like the English longbow are more accurate over greater distances than a musket in the hands of a well-trained archer.

So, if you prefer long-range combat we recommend using the Fire Staff or Bow, whereas, for those of you that are looking to get into the thick of the action, it's probably better to opt for the Rapier or Spear.
There's many benefits to choosing PVP over PVE, aspects such as new quests, increased XP and perhaps more importantly is that the more PVP missions you and your Faction complete in a certain region. The more influence you'll have over it, and eventually, if you complete enough, it may trigger a War or an Invasion.

The only weapon that scales with Dexterity and no other Attribute, the bow is a popular choice for those interested in ranged physical damage. The Mastery Tree has one build that's better for PvP, the Skirmisher, while the Hunter talents are better for wilderness survival.
Can I master every weapon in New World?
Unlike some RPGs, which limit their players strictly to the weapons assigned to their classes, New World has no classes and therefore no restrictions on the weapons each character can use.
You can greatly increase your movement speed just by switching or sheathing weapons in-between your dodges, rolls, or dashes. New World players refer to this technique as 'animation canceling'.

The Spear & Bow combine very well together, offering a ton of CC, zoning potential (with the spear) and solid range. Both weapons provide supplementary damage over time skills, combined with a focus on debuffs, this allows us to gain a ton of percent damage amplifications based on maintaining those debuffs.
Best bow gems
The Pristine Onyx will give you big opening damage, providing you open-up on the target. While the Diamond works best for PvE, especially expeditions as you'll most likely be max health more often than not. While a 2.5% physical damage absorption is a no-brainer.
Depending on the situation, flint arrows will be better than no arrows. Those are the easy-to-make arrows of the game and are there to help you have any sort of arrow whatsoever while you level up your Engineering skill. All you need is to create 50 Flint Arrows is: 5 Flint.

Is New World PvE friendly?

The notion that compound bows lose power over time is a misconception of what's actually happening, as they don't lose power from aging or too much time on the range. Either with repeated use or minimal activity, you may find that your bowstring may lose some tension, or it may need to be replaced altogether.
